Appointments & Referrals

To make an appointment, please call Central Appointments at DSN 314-632-5000 or Commercial +39 0434-30-5000. You can also schedule your appointment online using the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. If you need to cancel your appointment, please cancel at least two hours in advance by calling the appointment line to avoid a no-show. 

Emergencies

Aviano MDG does not have emergency services. Emergencies (life, limb, or eyesight) don't require prior authorization.

  • For a medical emergency on base, call 911 from a landline or +39 0434-30-1911 from a cell phone.
  • If off base, dial 112 or go to the nearest emergency room for care.

Urgent Care

Aviano MDG does not offer urgent care. For non-emergent issues during non-duty hours, contact the Military Health System Nurse Advice Line for help. Both active duty and family members need an authorization from the Nurse Advice Line or their PCM prior to seeking off-base urgent care to avoid out-of-pocket costs and ensure they are directed to an approved host-nation facility. 

Access to Care

If you need to get care at Aviano, the priorities for getting appointments are identified in Department of Defense policy and are listed below: 
  • Active duty service members 
  • Active duty family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Young Adult – Prime Option 
 All others can get care if space is available after Aviano has met the health care needs of the three categories listed above within DOD access standards. This includes: 
  • Active duty family members enrolled in TRICARE Select or TRICARE Young Adult – Select Option 
  • Retired service members and their eligible family members 
  • DOD civilians and contractors 

How do I find a civilian provider at Aviano? 

The overseas contractor, International SOS, has established a network of qualified providers in all overseas areas for TRICARE beneficiaries. To find an overseas provider, search the Overseas Provider Directory. If you're not a TRICARE beneficiary, please contact your medical insurance provider for assistance.  

Are you a DOD Civilian or Contractor? 

If you’re a DOD civilian employee or contractor stationed in Aviano, you should contact your medical insurance provider for help in finding health care options. 

Patient Liaison / Translation Services 

In-person translation services are available at Pordenone Hospital Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., including U.S. and Italian holidays. 

  • Please call +39-335-560-1235 to alert a translator you are coming, or upon arrival. 
  • Outside of these hours, TRICARE Prime beneficiaries may contact the International SOS Telephonic Assistance Service at toll-free number 800-915-994 or +44-20-8762-8383.
