Children's Health

We provide scheduled acute, chronic and preventive medical care for patients newborn to 17 years of age. Services include well-child visits and required sports physicals.

Wellness/Well-Child Exams

These visits should be conducted at the identified ages of 2 weeks; 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 months; and then annually near the child’s birthday. Immunizations will be coordinated with these visits.

Some benefits of well-child visits are:

  • Prevention: Your child gets scheduled immunizations to prevent illness. You also can ask your pediatrician about nutrition and safety in the home and at school.
  • Tracking growth and development: See how much your child has grown in the time since your last visit and talk with your doctor about your child's development. You can discuss your child's milestones, social behaviors, and learning.
  • Raising any concerns: Make a list of topics you want to talk about with your child's pediatrician, such as development, behavior, sleep, eating or getting along with other family members. Bring your top three to five questions or concerns with you to talk with your pediatrician at the start of the visit.
  • Team approach: Regular visits create strong, trustworthy relationships among pediatrician, parent, and child. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-child visits as a way for pediatricians and parents to serve the needs of children. This team approach helps develop the optimal physical, mental, and social health of a child.

Sports Physicals

DODEA schools require a valid physical for children to participate in sports. These physicals are good for one year.

To avoid the summertime rush and potential delays due to personnel shortages during the PCS season, we highly recommend scheduling your child’s physical well in advance. You can request the necessary sports clearance forms be completed during your child's annual well-child visit.

  • Check Your Child's Last Physical Date: Parents of children aged 13-18 can view their child's last physical date on the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal or by calling the appointment line.
  • If you only need a copy of an existing clearance form because your child has been seen for their annual visit within the past 12 months, please send a message through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal. New paperwork can be provided without needing a new appointment.
